BatAbility Courses & Tuition develops and delivers bat training courses and programmes throughout the UK and Europe, as well as online. Neil Middleton, our Managing Director, has been heavily involved with delivering bat training events for over 25 years.
We are professional trainers, having gained substantial experience in delivering many types of personal development events across the full range of customer types and commercial sectors. Our training is always delivered in a friendly, relaxed and informative manner, using a variety of techniques and approaches to cater for different participant learning preferences.
This is an extensive 18-month bat training programme covering all of the relevant skills (split into 10 modules) required by a bat ecologist working within the consultancy sector. It includes so much more than what is sometimes referred to as Bat Licence Training, albeit this is also part of what we are delivering. The programme is equally relevant to those undertaking long term research or working within the conservation sector. Included within the programme is all of the training normally deemed appropriate in order for you to be signed off for a Scottish Natural Heritage Roost Visitors Bat Licence*. Upon a satisfactory completion of an assessment at the end of the programme, we will be in a position to provide a trainers reference should you wish to apply for a bat licence.
We only offer limited spaces on this programme, with one class intake per year (commencing in January). To book onto the Bat Skills Development Programme you need to have at least 50 hours of practical bat-related work experience, as well as being someone who is either working within the ecological sector (e.g. as an ecologist, conservationist or bat researcher) or is planning to do so in the future. The content and structure of the programme is such that it is not suited to those from other commercial sectors seeking to have a bat licence to compliment their trade.
You can apply to be considered at anytime. In fact we recommend you get in touch as soon as you know you wish to be considered, as quite often the following year’s intake is full, many months before the training programme is due to commence.
*We have also, in the past, based on the above training programme, been in the position to act as a reference for Natural England bat licences. If, however, you are based in England or Wales, seeking a Natural England or Natural Resources Wales bat licence, you may wish to also try our training partner, Bat Training.
Each year we offer bat training courses that anyone can book onto as a delegate. To find out about the courses that are currently being planned please visit our Courses & Events page.
Occasionally we arrange larger bat events and conferences. To find out about any such events that are currently being planned please visit our Courses & Events page.
We also have experience with the planning, development, delivery and facilitation of large events and conferences. You would not necessarily need to involve ourselves regarding any, or all, of the technical content delivered during the event. We could, for example, work with you (using our experience and contacts) to help ensure that it has been well thought out, planned and professionally delivered on the day. Get in touch with us today to discuss your requirements.
